Job objective: This is an exciting role in a growing company. The ideal candidate for the position is someone who has experience performing stress analysis on complex structures and electronics assemblies. In this role, you will work closely with a talented engineering team to analyze and design cutting edge electronic and mechanical assemblies to survive in harsh environments. 


Duties 

  • Perform structural finite element analysis (FEA) on complex mechanical structures and electronic assemblies for a range of solution and load types, including static, modal, and structural dynamics (vibration and shock).
  • Build finite element models and perform hand calculations to verify structural integrity across Epirus’s product lines.
  • Develop and decompose requirements and define bounding load cases.
  • Work closely with other engineers to ensure structures survive harsh environments encountered during operation and transport and assist in redesign and optimization of mechanical systems.
  • Hold design reviews and presentations with peers and act as an expert structural reviewer 

Required Qualifications 

  • BS degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural or similar engineering field. 
  • 5-8 years of experience in structural/stress analysis of metallic structures. 
  • Expert level comfort with Finite Element Analysis and structural hand calculations. 
  • Experience with structural analysis and pre/post processing software packages such as Nastran, Ansys, FEMAP, Patran or equivalent. 
  • Experience analyzing systems under static loading, shock, and vibrational environments including random vibration. 
  • Experience with structural test and qualification of mechanical systems.
  • Hold design reviews and presentations with peers and act as an expert structural reviewer
  • US Citizen and/or Permanent Resident (future clearance may be required) 

Desired Qualifications 

  • Experience performing stress analysis of electronic systems such as circuit card assemblies.
  • Experience analyzing actuated mechanical systems including azimuth and elevation pointing mechanisms.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Collaborative; capable of working across all levels of the organization
  • Organized; comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

Location

Our company is located in Torrance, just off of the 405. We moved into our new 100,000+ square foot facility in November 2021 and love calling it home.
