Materials Engineering Technician

Team and Role Mission
Your main objective will be to successfully implement materials testing equipment and processes to support test programs across the company. Relativity Space is focused on 3D printing rockets and associated hardware with the ultimate goal of 3D printing a rocket on Mars. The Materials Team is a key contributor to the Relativity Space mission by designing, understanding, and developing our materials. Managing large projects from conception to completion is a key objective to attaining our goals. You will also have a heavy hand in the safe transition of our specialized materials testing equipment to the Long Beach Headquarters.
What You'll Accomplish
Your main objective will be to successfully implement machining and materials processing techniques to prep and evaluate test samples across the company. Relativity Space is focused on 3D printing rockets and associated hardware with the ultimate goal of 3D printing a rocket on Mars. The Materials Team is a key contributor to the Relativity Space mission by designing, understanding, and developing our AM materials.
Minimum Required Skills and Competencies
- 5+ years industry experience or equivalent
- Experience working directly with CNC systems, waterjet, wire EDM, and other machining systems
- Demonstrated experience maintaining equipment that fabricates aerospace metal alloys
- Experience with materials characterization laboratories and techniques
- Experience with mechanical testing systems
Nice to haves but not required:
- Associates Degree in mechanical or materials engineering, or a related field preferred
- Prior experience taking ownership of CNC production equipment, or other high CapEx equipment
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a United States Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.
