Snap’s Augmented Reality team invents the immersive (and fun!) camera experiences that are at the core of our products. From developing creative new Lens features for Snapchat, to supporting the continuous growth and evolution of Lens Studio (our platform for an ever-increasing community of AR creators), to designing the cutting-edge computer vision and machine learning technology that makes face transformation Lenses possible — our Augmented Reality team is working hard on their mission to bring AR to more people, places, and moments, every day.
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Augmented Reality team.
What you’ll do:
Drive the technical and organizational roadmap for the engineering team working on Lens discovery and use in Snapchat
Build web and cloud solutions that help translating the needs of the Lens developer ecosystem into products that connect developer experiences with Snap’s highly engaged AR audience
Collaborate with Product, Data Science and Engineering teams distributed across multiple locations
Influence key decisions on architecture and implementation of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions
Iterate quickly without compromising quality and raise the bar on operational excellence
Evaluate the technical tradeoffs of major decisions and be a strong technical mentor
Build and grow a team of exceptional software engineers and technical leaders
Create growth opportunities, give regular feedback, promote talent, manage performance issues
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong computer science fundamentals
Knowledge of front-end and backend development
Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of a company
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to influence and convey messages to a wide range of stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications:
BS/BA in a technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of experience
11+ years of experience working in software engineering
2+ years of experience leading or managing teams of high performing software engineers
Preferred Qualifications:
Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments
Experience making critical decisions for complex technical issues in real-time, considering timelines and urgency
Experience with backend services or distributed systems
Experience with at least one of the following: large-scale microservices and distributed systems, cloud computing and storage systems, or infrastructure and large-scale system design
Experience working with a diverse group of engineers
