THE PURPOSE:

You will lead the linear infrastructure process development team while using your experience and expertise to define & develop Virgin Hyperloop One's (VHO) manufacturing processes. Additionally, you and your team will define design and business requirements while meeting deadlines and benchmarks for assembly, manufacturing & cost objectives. You will position the process development team to collaborate effectively with product design, procurement and operations in order to deliver our new test track, integrated development bogey test & other milestones - making sure to stay on time and on budget.  

THE ROLE:

• Provide support, tools, training and systems that will enable the manufacturing process team to develop new manufacturing processes efficiently and effectively
• Foster an innovative & collaborative team environment where ideas are openly shared
• Champion manufacturing innovations within the engineering design sphere
• Ensure VHO designs meet manufacture, assembly and cost objectives
• Support supply chain, procurement and design group with manufacturing know-how, feasibility studies, cost models and manufacturing direction
• Ensure that members of the manufacturing team are engaging with their relevant design groups and network partners i.e. suppliers, procurement, metal works and other relevant departments
• Ultimately ensure the manufacturing processes are organized and developed for time-sensitive, company-wide milestones in a timely manner

THE CANDIDATE:

A successful candidate exhibits the following:

• Knowledgeable in low to high volume manufacturing and production methodologies
• Can perform design of experiments, can demonstrate a good spatial understanding of designs and their manufacturing implications
• Has a broad knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes
• Provides critical thinking to manufacturing and design discussions
• Comfortable working with imperfect information to provide direction
• Willing to challenge the status quo where necessary and maintain a strong manufacturing presence within VHO

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge of low & high-volume manufacturing and production methodologies - including quality know-how, six sigma, lean manufacturing, low-cost and high-automation experience
• Demonstrated track record in new product platform introductions
• Has managed and led a team of manufacturing engineers to successfully accomplish set objectives
• Experience in successful implementation of innovative manufacturing process development projects

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors degree in an engineering field & Masters degree in a related field
• Experience with new product platform introductions in a start-up environment
• Expert-level manufacturing experience in a high-volume production environment
