The current auto manufacturing system is economically and environmentally broken. Divergent invented a manufacturing system that combines software, additive manufacturing, and assembly technologies to radically reduce the material, energy, time and capital required to design and build vehicles. This will transform the automotive industry from capital intensive to innovation intensive while dramatically reducing the lifecycle environmental impact of vehicles. The Role: Machinist

What You’ll Do:

• Set-up and operation of machining equipment including mills, lathes and multi-axis machines

• Work cross-functionally with engineering staff to deliver manufacturable and cost effective designs

• Provide guidance on metrology and inspection of complex components

• Support implementation of the quality system to industry standards including AS9100 and ISO 9001

What You Have:

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in machining tight tolerance, high value components

• Must have 3+ years of hands on CNC programming experience

• Tooling and fixture design

• Must have aluminum and titanium machining experience

• Experience with conventional and CNC mills, lathes

• Excellent blue print reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard

• Proper cutter selection with appropriate materials

• Ability to provide design for manufacturing feedback

• Excellent communication skills

• Fluent in use of precision hand tools

• Familiar with use of personal computers and standard business software such as MS Office

• Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates

The Extras:

• Familiarity with metal additive manufacturing processes

• Experience machining nickel alloys and stainless steels

• Strong knowledge of Haas and Siemens controls

• Multi-axis lathe, mill and VTL experience

• NC programming skills, preferably NX CAM or ability to quickly learn it

• Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around critical hardware

• CMM programming/operation

• Outside processing knowledge (heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.)
