THE PURPOSE:

As the System Requirements Engineer for Vehicle at Virgin Hyperloop One, you will be responsible for model-based system engineering modeling, requirement decomposition, support safety, testing requirements and V&V activities. 

The Systems Engineering team is responsible for developing and maturing requirements for both current and future growth opportunities with model-based system engineering, formal functional and use case analysis, requirement elicitation and requirement management. THE ROLE:

The System Requirement Engineer is responsible for defining modes, functions, interfaces, actors in functional based models and developing sub-system control functional chains to meet system requirements.

Management:
  • You will achieve the required functional analysis and requirement elicitation activities for your system or function in time, and on quality
  • Contribute in a cooperative way to low level systems gate milestones (Requirement Design Review, Preliminary Design Review, Design Detailed Review, Integrations and Test Readiness Review) for requirement activities
  • Support gate milestones with presentations and analysis reporting
  • Manage follow-up requirement non compliance allocated to your system or function

Technical:

  • Apply MBSE tool (SystML type modeling tool) to conduct functional analysis of vehicle sub-systems such as propulsion and flight control sub-system, thermal management sub-system, battery management sub-system and actuator sub-system (list non exhaustive).
  • Conduct requirements decomposition and functional allocation to hardware, software, operator and other segments and components of the sub-system(s) with support of the responsible design engineer.
  • Capture and manage requirements in the Requirement Management Tool DOORS NG.
  • Capture requirement trace-ability and evaluate requirement verification methods with support of the responsible design engineer
  • Create concise functional description documentation that describe functional models and functional chains
  • Present system or function requirements 
  • Support verification and validation activities, test requirement activities, and safety requirement activities
  • Analyse all relevant input documents (CONOPS, design, drawings, standards and regulation) and derive requirement from them
  • Ensure the completeness of all requirement documents allocated to the system or function and the harmonization of its content with all stakeholders
  • Ensure the integration of the allocated system or function interface is harmonized with all stakeholders

THE CANDIDATE:

  • Motivated “self-starter” who is comfortable collaborating with multiple engineering teams
  • You are an excellent verbal and written communicator
  • You can work independently and, in a team, oriented environment with little guidance

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or demonstrated work experience with system engineering and integration experience within aerospace or similar, with a proven delivery record.
  • Experience working across organizations to coordinate and identify system requirements and key performance parameters to ensure end-to-end project performance requirements are met.
  • Experience with SysML modeling language or other comparable MBSE tool.
  • Strong experience with propulsion and/or flight control system
  • Experience with environmental control system
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with safety critical systems (including hardware and software)
  • Experience working with FAR / EASA requirement
