Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Lead Model Based Systems Engineer Architect for their Experimental Systems Group (ESG) Satellite Systems Team in Seal Beach, CA. This position will support the development of new, first-of-kind space vehicles and missions.   

ESG supports advanced technology domains in an extremely fast-paced and responsive development environment and delivers new capabilities rapidly and affordably to their customer. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable space plane, which completed its record-setting fifth flight in October 2019. This position will play a significant role in the development of digital twin data models that produces physical products in a complete Model Based Engineering (MBE) lifecycle.   

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leverage broad, multi-segment Systems Engineering and MBSE experience to lead the development and implementation of MBSE across the entire ESG portfolio of programs
  • Partners with IT support personnel and leadership to develop system hardware/software requirements; Enables model/database connectivity between MBSE (Cameo No Magic), DOORS, and Teamcenter. This includes functional, Logical, and Physical Arch (Mat lab, STK, PDM, CAD, GRS, etc.)
  • Plans and coordinates End-to-End system transition activities such as data migrations, data validation and system testing and develops automated data validation/consistency scripts
  • Coordinates with Boeing Digital Enterprise development of MBSE processes and tools to ensure ESG commonality throughout the MBE lifecycle: Shares MBSE best practices, lessons learned and serves as an MBSE mentor for ESG Systems Engineering
  • Develops processes, training, and model style guide documentation.  Conducts processes and tools training to engineers
  • Develops and presents review packages to internal and external senior leadership
  • Coordinates model use and ownership across multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPT)
  • Provides technical integration analysis to engineering design teams through the use of visualization and simulation tools.  
  • Assist in the development of proposals for new business that will implement MBSE and will Ensure MBSE commonality across all models and programs
  • Works under general direction

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security/SSBI Clearance (US Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 5+ years of experience with DOORS and Cameo No Magic
  • 10+ years of experience in Systems Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience data analytics

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Teamcenter Unified or similar product data management tools
  • Familiarity with Product lifecycle development

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
