PatientPop R&D: Purpose Driven Organization - PatientPop

At PatientPop, we believe healthcare providers should focus their attention on delivering quality care to patients. That's why we devised a solution that allows providers to build a thriving practice, without being tied down by the burdens of business growth.

We've helped thousands of providers since our founding in 2014. Along the way, we cultivated an incredible work environment — one of the best, according to Great Place to Work.

Our dedicated team brings a blend of experiences that drives innovation and customer success. Our development-focused culture allows employees to thrive personally and professionally. And our bustling (dog-friendly!) offices are in an enviable location: just two blocks from the beach and around the corner from 3rd Street Promenade.

Now, we want you to be a part of it all.

How you will contribute:

As Head of Platform Engineering, you will work with product and engineering teams to strengthen, grow and evolve the entire PatientPop system. The environment empowers responsible, autonomous teams to use the right technologies to solve the right problems.

In this role, you will report to the Chief Technology Officer. You will implement a vision for Platform Engineering that increases system decoupling and improves reliability while simultaneously improving autonomous product team velocity.

Key to this role is strong hands-on experience with building and migrating to robust microservices in serverless architectures; ideally using AWS infrastructure and Lambda in CI/CD environments. Essential as well is expertise in development, testing life cycle automation (integration, system, performance, and chaos), and security/compliance in highly regulated environments (preferably HIPAA). Experience with Domain Driven Design, Event Storming, Event Sourcing/CQRS is a big plus. The Head of Platform Engineering should also be a lean agilist that can thrive in a “flattish” organization which values collaboration over titles, with the ability to influence a whole department.

Skills you’ll bring:

  • Promote standards, tools, core services, and education to make it easy for teams to build things right, while balancing speed and autonomy of product teams
  • Increase transparency via tools for system-wide observability, tracking and monitoring
  • Improve system-level security, monitoring and compliance in partnership with the security team
  • Deliver highly-available infrastructure services and testing framework to reduce product development and operational friction
  • Champion security and software maturity programs

Why you're important to us:

We are looking for someone with a passion for engineering excellence with the ability to plan, organize, design systems and execute priorities to meet business goals. A leader that can achieve results is key to success in this role. This role also requires a fast paced, collaborative, outcome-driven results individual, who can work with and influence multiple stakeholders to drive our architecture, pick the right technologies and development tools.

In 90 days you will:

Deliver highly-available infrastructure services and testing frameworks. You should prepare to have an immediate impact on the organization from day one. You’ll take this far beyond your first 90 days. Expect to constantly be learning, challenging yourself and strategizing with your team on building a world-class engineering practice.

PatientPop has one simple mission: to help healthcare practices thrive. We do this by giving providers everything they need attract and recall patients to continuously grow their practices.
