THE PURPOSE:

Slickdeals needs a frontend-focused web developer who can dig into our existing JavaScript framework for user interactions and dynamic content. They should also be able to tackle conversion tasks using semantic HTML and CSS/SCSS. The right candidate is going to be a fast learner with good instincts and have the perfect mix of frontend skills.

We want someone with a passion for JavaScript and UX and who is naturally inclined to give attention to the smallest details, but can let go of the small things if the product team is ready to approve and move on. 

Our Front-end Engineers work with a focus on Vanilla JavaScript, and this role would be primarily focused around the scripting side of the web.

THE ROLE:

• Work closely with designers to produce interactive UX solutions using JavaScript.
• Develop, test, and debug web applications for the Slickdeals website - both desktop and mobile experiences.
• Integrate new interactive solutions into our existing platforms.
• Optimize and maintain existing interfaces / quickly fix interactive UX issues as they arise.
• Prepare test plans for features that you develop and work closely with other stakeholders throughout the Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing process.
• Participate in code review and follow coding standards around our JavaScript frameworks.
• Assist with planning and executing improvements to our JavaScript frameworks.
• Gradually improve JavaScript structure to promote code reuse and consistency across our frontend library.
• Work closely with your team and management to improve the process.

THE CANDIDATE:

• Capable of building features inside of an existing web application.
• Ability to work with a team of engineers to accomplish company objectives.
• Ability to work with your manager on application requirements and implementations.
• Basic understanding of software development and design principles.
• Experience working inside of modern web applications.
• Exposure to web technologies like JavaScript (ES6), CSS, and HTML.
• Focus on working on web scripting using JavaScript.
• You have experience with JavaScript and know your way around the language.
• You have experience working with semantic HTML, and building layouts in CSS/SCSS.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• You are a long time Slickdeals user.
• You have experience building lightweight layouts for mobile devices and touch interfaces.
• You understand CRP, and have some experience customizing a page to fit the desired user experience.
• You possess advanced knowledge of JavaScript.
• You possess experience with TypeScript.
• You possess experience with build tools for JavaScript applications.
• You are also an experienced PHP / SQL developer.
