OVERVIEW:

The Fraud Automation Developer works within the Financial Operations team to optimize technical processes and provide primary support to the maintenance and enhancement of internal systems.

As Stamps.com technical landscape changes, these crucial systems need to adapt to match, and this role is critical to keeping them online and smoothly functioning. In addition, the Financial Operations team’s requirements for these applications are continuously evolving and the regular addition of new features is a core component of this role.

TEAM OVERVIEW:

The Financial Operations group at Stamps.com is responsible for making sure money is properly collected from and credited to the hundreds of thousands of customers of Stamps.com and its subsidiaries.  This includes automated recurring billing and invoice generation, payment processing, credit extension, fraud prevention and more.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Objectives:

  1. Investigate, troubleshoot, and fix complex internal applications.
  2. Add features and maintain internal web applications.
  3. Modernize application deployment.
  4. Automate processes.
  5. Ad hoc investigation of system functionality.

Essential Position Duties:

Investigate, troubleshoot, and fix complex internal applications.

  • Find the root cause of anomalous behavior, differentiating legitimate causes, upstream changes, and application issues.
  • Collaborate with a wide array of teams to resolve issues and identify causes.

Add features and maintain internal web applications.

  • Create/develop connections for internal web applications to various APIs and databases internal and external in support of the Financial Operations team.
  • Fix, test, and update application when issues arise.

Modernize application and deployment.

  • Transition existing web application to AWS, identifying opportunities for enhancement.
  • Determine the optimal deployment strategy within the context of rapid and frequent changes.

Automate processes.

  • Create cleaner, more efficient processes through automation.
  • Automate these processes in PHP, SQL, and Python.
  • Create automated reporting on issues for high importance processes.

Ad hoc investigation of system functionality.

  • Query logs, read code, and manually investigate a wide away of systems.
  • Determine actual vs intended behavior of internal applications and adjacent systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:                                                                                                       

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Economics, or equivalent field.
  • Minimum of Three (3) years of experience developing, deploying, and troubleshooting complex systems.
  • Minimum of Three (3) years of experience with PHP and SQL.
  • At least One (1) year of experience using the AWS ecosystem.
  • Prior experience refactoring existing code as well as architecting new solutions.
  • At least One (1) year of experience in financial operations is preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong application development skills, and ability to take ownership of projects.
  • Understanding and of modern deployment strategies, testing, and continuous integration.
  • Understanding of LAMP stack or similar.
  • Understanding of containerization.
  • Strong understanding of SQL.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of people.

Computer/Software/Application Proficiency:

  • Development in AWS: EC2, ECS, & FARGATE
  • Experience with S3, Lambda, Kinesis, Redshift, Athena a plus
  • Git and GitHub
  • Development in Windows & Linux
  • Splunk a plus
  • Docker a plus
  • Jenkins as plus
  • Python, Django or Flask, a plus
  • Understanding of OKTA a plus
