Firmware Quality Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Firmware Quality Engineer to join Snap Inc! As a member of the Spectacles QA team, you will be a quality champion. An excellent candidate will have a passion for quality and enjoy breaking things through creative testing. You will thrive in uncertain, early prototype stages of a project when not all features are implemented and enjoy putting energy into identifying and classifying issues as a way to improve quality. Working from our Los Angeles headquarters, you’ll collaborate with Software and Hardware Engineers, Product Managers, Program Managers, and Tools teams to innovate, explore and incorporate continuous improvement of testing methodologies.
What you’ll do:
Design, develop and maintain innovative approaches to middleware and firmware testing, including automation
Exercise working with and testing IOT devices running embedded Linux or Android
Test software applications on mobile devices and report and gather important information to help debug issues
Mentor junior QA team members and be a force-multiplier
Work closely with Developers and Program Managers to resolve issues quickly and efficiently
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in CS or relevant field or equivalent work experience
5+ years of experience in a FW/SWQA role and/or troubleshooting role
Experience with Python, C/C++, Java and/or other scripting languages to write and maintain automation and unit tests with minimal manual interaction
Experience using JIRA, TestRail, and GIT
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience designing, implementing, executing and supporting stress and load testing against hardware devices, UI and Cloud
Experience with agile test tools and methodologies
Extensive experience testing IOT devices running Android
Strong debug and trace skills using Bluetooth analyzers, wire-shark, or similar tools
