Job Description

Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS)is seeking an Experienced Software Test Engineer (Level 4) for the Mission Framework and Analytics (MF/A) Spacecraft Control Element (SCE) organization, supporting proprietary ground system development programs.  

Tasking includes full life-cycle development, integration and test. Provides a system engineering approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Leads others to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. 

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. (Basic relocation is available for internal candidates, based on candidate eligibility.)

Primary Responsibilities

• Define, schedule, and assign tasks, and monitor completion to validate system-of-systems concepts, system concepts and subsystem concepts by inspection, analysis, test, and demonstration to assure that the system architecture and design concepts satisfy the intent of the customer requirements.
• Coach, mentor, and train others.
• Lead or consult on defining, scheduling, and assigning tasks, and monitoring completion to lead the monitoring of integration and checkout activities, receiving and evaluating of results of activities.
• Lead or consult on managing, monitoring, and reporting the progress and status of integration, checkout, and verification activities and anomaly resolutions by directing and reviewing these activities to assure integration validity and to enable meeting the program schedule.
• Lead the above for highly complex or broad scope programs.

This position requires an active/current U.S. Security Clearance with successful completion of a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) by the federal government within the last 5 years (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic (Required) Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or technical field is required.
• Requires experience with software automated test tools.
• Experience with software systems engineering, integration, and testing is required. 

Preferred (Desired) Qualifications

• Experience with software requirements is preferred. 
• Experience with telemetry & command processing (especially space-ground) is preferred.
• Prefer experience with Java, C++, and Linux systems.

Typical Education / Experience
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

• The focus is software test engineering for satellite ground systems.
• Requires a background in software development and test.
• Requires experience with software automated test tools.
• Prefer experience with telemetry and commanding (especially space-ground).
• Prefer familiarity with Java, C++, and Linux systems.
