System1 is looking for a Tech Lead Engineer to be the Tech Lead of our Platform team. You will design, build, operate, debug, optimize, and deploy sophisticated web-based systems with a growing team of talented engineers. In this role, you will manipulate and leverage datasets to extract valuable insights coming from millions of user requests. The ideal person will not only be an expert software developer with both back end and some full stack knowledge, but also a collaborative team player with infectious energy and a desire to communicate ideas respectfully to colleagues.

• Be responsible for the re-architecting a significant portion of System1’s platform and ad servers into having a more service-oriented design that takes advantage of key services built in 2018
• Develop new architectures for one of System1’s core platforms and integrate it with new services that unify our data and serving infrastructures
• Manage System1’s ~190k micro-sites and associated domains
• Build, operate, and optimize large web-based systems and platforms that interface directly with Data Science real-time scoring models and support various optimization algorithms that are multi-objective in nature
• Design and implement algorithms to efficiently process, analyze, and serve massive datasets
• Serve as a key individual contributor within the Venice engineering group
• Take projects through the full engineering lifecycle: designing, ticketing, building, testing, deploying, and debugging tools and products
• Help grow a team and work with a tight knit group of engineers and data stakeholders

What You Will Bring

• 3-5+ years of full-time experience in a backend development environment required preferably with Python (Python, Jinja, Flask, etc.)
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent, Master's degree a plus
• Should be comfortable writing HTML/CSS and proficient in Javascript
• Operational proficiency with SQL is a plus
• Experience building scalable and reliable products in the cloud
• Experience with designing, implementing, and using RESTful APIs
• Good diagnostic and debugging skills
