As a key member of the engineering team and reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will cross-functionality collaborate with teams to ensure end-to-end strategy and execution. You will use your technical experience and business context to lead engineering teams in building the Medely platform. We are looking for an engineer who is passionate about product craftsmanship and cares about great design. Ideally, you will have experience in fostering and growing highly efficient software development teams and supporting the delivery of simple and elegant development solutions.

What you will do:

  • Work closely with stakeholders to deliver world-class software
  • Develop people through coaching, mentoring, and direct feedback
  • Be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of technical projects
  • Translate product requirements and technical designs into well-engineered, low-defect, robust code
  • Research new technologies or methodologies that can improve the architecture, user experience, or development process
  • Oversight of the maintenance to ensure production-ready backend systems and frameworks, while focusing on efficiency and optimization
  • Define and analyze metrics that inform the success of our products
  • Attract, onboard, and retain top talent
  • Help establish best quality practices across the organization
  • Collaborate with product, sales, customer support, and other departments to implement new growth initiatives Identify performance bottlenecks while proposing and implementing effective solutions
  • Champion simple, intelligent, and elegant solutions to problems

What we are seeking:

  • 10 years of relevant industry experience, with 5 years of technical leadership and people management experience
  • Solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals and their practical applications
  • Thorough understanding of Site Reliability and Platform Engineering principles
  • Exposure to Ruby, Docker, Kubernetes, and Google Cloud
  • Experience with APIs (REST and GraphQL)
  • Understanding of client-side JavaScript frameworks
  • Large-scale systems design experience
  • Bachelors in Computer Science or similar field
  • Possess a growth mindset: Live and breathe experimentation, data analysis, and ruthlessly prioritize for impact
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple teams and be willing to roll up your sleeves and execute!
  • Committed desire to understand our customers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

In accordance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected base salary range for this role in Colorado is $135,000 to $190,000.

This position may be eligible for additional compensation and benefits including: equity, bonus, health benefits; flexible spending account; retirement benefits; life insurance; paid time off (including PTO, paid sick leave, medical leave, floating holidays and paid holidays); and benefits. Actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by law.
