Responsibilities
Supporting the development of space-based communication systems operating at frequencies from “DC” to “Daylight”, we solve the problems that others can’t. Our hardware solutions are based on your work. We are looking for a talented technician who enjoys hands-on operations and desires a challenging environment where you both actively contribute to varied laboratory projects and acquire new fabrication, measurement, and test capabilities. **This role is open to candidates willing and able to work full-time on-site in general laboratory conditions following corporate COVID-19 guidelines from our Aerospace El Segundo, CA location**
This position is open to hire an Aerospace Technical Specialist Level II or Level III
Key Functions: Possess one or more of these capabilities
- MEASUREMENTS
- Testing of high-speed digital electronic circuits
- Testing of microwave and millimeter-wave circuits including mechanical fixturing and circuit integration
- ASSEMBLY and LAYOUT
- Board layout and assembly of high-speed digital electronic circuits
- Board layout and assembly of microwave and millimeter-wave circuits including mechanical fixturing and circuit integration
- MECHANICAL
- Drawing of plans and fixture fabrication using machine tools of custom and one-off mechanical fixtures in support of circuit and antenna measurements
- Fabrication of microwave cable and digital harnesses
- LABORATORY ACTIVITIES
- Collaboration with engineers on laboratory activities including operation of test equipment and data acquisition
- Participate as a team member to support engineer-directed activities
- Maintenance of laboratory equipment and general laboratory cleanliness and safety
- Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities
- Ability to interact and work with a diverse set of engineers and technician colleagues.
- Willing to learn, ask questions, suggest solutions, take ownership of issues
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree or higher from an accredited university
- 3 or more years of relevant work experience in a related discipline
- High motivation with proficiency to learn and carry out tasks with guidance/leadership of experienced staff
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- This position requires the eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a clearance
- Experience with computers and programs such as Excel and Powerpoint
Electronics Technology Specialist II Qualifications: Possess one or more of these capabilities
- MEASUREMENTS
- Experience with the measurements using electrical laboratory equipment (meters, signal sources, oscilloscopes)
- ASSEMBLY and LAYOUT
- Experience with PCB layout tools such as PADS, digital layout principles, and PCB assembly
- Experience with microwave circuit layout principles and assembly techniques
- MECHANICAL
- Experience with general machine tools (drill press, band saw, grinder)
- Mechanical fabrication skills
Electronics Technology Specialist III Qualifications: Possess one or more of these capabilities
- MEASUREMENTS
- Significant experience with the measurements using advanced electrical laboratory equipment, such as network and spectrum analyzers
- Familiarity with operating computer programs for automated data acquisition
- ASSEMBLY and LAYOUT
- Significant experience with PCB layout tools such as PADS, digital layout principles, and PCB assembly
- Significant experience with microwave circuit layout principles, circuit assembly including packaged component attachment (e.g. QFN), and general microwave concepts such as S-parameters
- MECHANICAL
- Experience with advanced machine tools, such as mills and lathes
- Significant experience with mechanical fabrication skills
Preferred
- Experience with LPKF circuit board machines is a plus
- Experience with Labview or Matlab is a plus
- Experience with TWTs or High-Voltage is a plus
