Electro-mechanical Technician III

Responsibilities
Responsible for the assembly of spaceflight hardware, mechanical assemblies, electronic hardware, and test equipment. Maintenance of a wide variety of laboratory electrical equipment and instrumentation, and providing other laboratory related to assistance to engineers. Key Functions
- Collaborates with engineers on electro-mechanical spaceflight assemblies and test setups
- Prepares and applies coatings, including paint, staking and conformal coating
- Writes and executes test procedures and equipment operational procedures to support existing and new lab tests or facilities
- Support general laboratory activities including maintenance, cleanliness, organization, calibration
- Inspection of hardware against specifications
- Test measurements in support of mechanical assemblies
- Maintains laboratory equipment. Builds, repairs, and ensures the calibration of the equipment. Sets up instrumentation for tests
- Ensures that all safety rules and regulations are being followed. Attends necessary laboratory safety training
- Researches and recommends tools and equipment for capital purchases
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with laboratory safety protocols
- Ability to write technical documents such as work instructions
- Experience using calibrated assembly tools and test instruments
- Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems
- Effective interpersonal skills to coordinate efforts and work with other internal and external organizations
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, to self-initiate activities, and to work within timelines
- Ability to travel 10% of time
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
Preferred
- 5 or more years of relevant experience with Associate's Degree in a related discipline, or 7 or more years of relevant experience with High School Diploma or equivalent
- Electronic technician and/or basic machine shop training
- Experience maintaining thermal and thermal-vac chambers
- Certified to NASA-STD-8739.1 or equivalent
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in remote, outdoor locations
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may visit locations with varying temperatures and floor surfaces, and may be exposed to seasonal elements
- Laboratory environment with possible exposure to hazardous materials
- Certain laboratories may operate at a high noise level
