WHY WE NEED YOU
As an Electrical Test Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing, performing, and designing electrical experiments and tests. This includes (but is not limited to) high-level electrical test design for power electronic units and batteries, technical leadership for different aspects of projects, selection of instrumentation and DAQ system, and creation of test documentation.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead electrical test programs, from test planning, test execution, to data reporting for power electronic units, batteries, and other electrical products
- Collaborate with both internal and external customers to define requirements and specification for testing
- Create and develop test plans, test procedures, and design review presentations to meet testing needs
- Design experiments and perform testing of high-power electrical components, including hands-on laboratory work
- Perform data analysis and recommend design changes based on results
- Responsibilities may include budgeting and scheduling
- Perform other duties as required
WHAT YOU'VE DONE
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or another related field or equivalent work experience
- Solid test industry experience with emphasis on electrical testing on complex systems
- Experience with high voltage power semiconductors (MOSFETs, Diodes, etc.), gate drivers, and sensors
- Relevant hands-on experience with power converters (DC-DC,AC-DC, DC-DC) test and development
- Strong understanding of power electronics design, switching waveforms, and power conversion elements
- Experience with battery testing, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and/or electric motors
- Familiarity with DAQ systems and sensor selection
- Experience reading and/or developing electrical drawings
- Knowledge of common lab equipment and components such as oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters, power supplies, actuators, and relays
- Experience in developing requirements-driven test plans and procedures
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues with minimal supervision
- Flexible to travel (~25%) to support testing at our Las Vegas facility as needed
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience testing power electronic equipments and 3 phase electrical systems
- Experience in selection, setup, and operation of test instrumentation such as voltage sensors, current sensors, thermocouples, flowmeters, and pressure transducers.
- Experience with National Instruments hardware, LabVIEW, Arbin test systems, and Autodesk Electrical
- Experience working with sensors in high electromagnetic interface (EMI) environment
- Experience designing and testing printed circuit boards (PCBs)
- Familiarity with electrical insulation tests such as hipot (high potential) testing
