About the Role:

As Director of Engineering, you will lead major software engineering initiatives at Papaya. You will be responsible for all aspects of engineering management, including hiring, retention, performance, coaching, team structure, maintaining standards, making technical decisions, and establishing and working towards deadlines and milestones. Success in this role means managing and growing a team of software engineers and managers, driving projects to success, and communicating effectively up and down the organization. Papaya is growing fast in 2021, and this role will be equally fast-paced with great opportunities for growth.

What you will be doing: 

• Grow and manage teams of software engineers and managers to build and maintain Papaya’s products and technology
• Measure and improve team performance and promote a culture of engineering excellence
• Work with stakeholders to establish priorities and drive results
• Help guide technical direction on key products and technologies
• Proactively identify and solve problems

We’d like to hear from candidates with: 

• 5+ years of growing and managing heterogeneous software engineering teams
• Success in delivering high-growth web and mobile applications
• Experience with technologies including AWS, git, microservices architectures, and mobile development
• Strong understanding of modern SDLC principles
• Excellent communication, both written and verbal
• Experience in FinTech a plus
