Description
DevOps Engineer
Responsibilities Include
- Responsible for developing and building IT infrastructure and integration solutions, leveraging new technologies to implement new automation and re-engineering existing processes to increase efficiencies, removing bottlenecks and pain points
- Works on infrastructure-as-a-service initiatives, implementing and maintaining endpoints and interface stubs for Development and Pipeline teams to use via effective abstraction layers
- Contributes to building automated deployment and management systems, such as SaltStack or Puppet
- Evaluate existing system and platforms, provide recommendations for potential enhancements and areas of opportunity for improvement, and determine alternative solutions where practical, assisting with modifications and deployments where needed
- Works towards greater integration and collaboration between geographically distributed business units and workflows that span time zones
- Offer strategic project planning for the deployment of new tools and processes, ensuring that operational requirements are met
- Maintains automated monitoring solutions for infrastructure and services, leveraging available software such as Grafana and ELK to display data in a sensible manner
- Directly involved with global infrastructure initiatives, working with remote teams to complete tasks and projects
- Maintains database infrastructure required for their tools and software to function
- Responsible for ensuring Systems staff has the tools they require to ensure key systems and infrastructure are maintained and operating at peak efficiency
- Assist systems administration/architecture staff where necessary and other duties as assigned by Manager
Qualifications:
- 3+ years in a systems or development related field
- Must be familiar with RedHat/CentOS, VMware ESXi, and Docker
- Experience managing various databases, primarily MongoDB and Postgres
- Excellent experience with Python, Javascript, and Powershell
- Must have working knowledge of a platform such as Salt, Puppet, Chef, or another similar product
- Very comfortable working in both Linux and Windows environments
- Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines
- Able to efficiently troubleshoot complex and difficult problems
- Creative, willing to learn, and not adverse to trying new approaches to difficult problems
