Communications Architect - OPIR Next Generation

You will partner with the Government to ensure mission success of the Space Force Development Corps to develop, acquire and deploy Next generation Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) space assets that defend against, defeat, and deter aggressive adversary behavior in space. As the Next Generation OPIR Block 0 space communications engineer, your primary responsibilities will be to provide leadership and oversight of the development, integration, and testing of the space vehicle communications payloads or subsystems. You will be a critical resource to the program aiding in the early identification and mitigation of risks, providing awareness to senior managers and responsive application of Aerospace resources for prompt resolution of issues.
Key Functions
Support Government decision making process by supplying sound, coordinated, and easily understood technical information
Monitor, assess and report progress contractor design/build/test/integration status
Support and lead cost, schedule and technical risk assessments
Work with directly with government military and civil personnel and contractors
Personally, execute and/or identify, assign, and lead tasks for our Engineering & Technology Group (ETG) to perform design assessments of the communications payload/subsystem.
Assessments will encompass:
Review of requirement flow-down, derivation/allocation, worse case analyses and traceability analyses
Verification of design feasibility and requirement compliance
Engineering and design review, manufacturing review, test readiness review, test exit review, material review board, failure review board, and other technical and status reviews
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's Degree in an applicable technical field
12 or more years of relevant experience
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with customers, contractors, other FFRDC and SETA personnel
Ability to effectively present technical material to senior DoD and other US government officials
Active Secret security clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI , which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
Some travel is required
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Preferred
Advanced degree in electrical engineering is preferred
Experience with commercial or military analog and digital space electronics design processes
Familiarity with major space system development
Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance preferred
