Your Role: Closures Systems CAD Engineer 

Divergent is seeking and experienced and motivated CAD designer to support the next generation of industry-leading vehicle engineering. We’re committed to transforming the vehicle structural systems away from traditional body in white to a 3D printing enabled system using new body materials and attachment methods. To do this, we need a forward-looking and innovative engineer who will help shape the future of automotive structures, bodies and closures.

Your Key Objectives:

•Refining, generating and executing new technical solutions for vehicle closures to support our new internal vehicle programs, and joint development efforts with other OEMs

•Provide hands-on technical support for advanced component or technology development of body closures using advanced surfacing tools

•Develop engineering designs and support other teams with advanced surfacing tasks

•Develop and coordinate body closures and systems with manufacturing, analysis, other vehicle subsystems, vehicle development, safety, customers, and other functions

•Communicate information to and from internal and external customer organizations.

•Coordinate with the styling team to ensure styling feasibility

•Work cross-functionally to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and support prototype and production build activities

•Work with supply chain team to identify and support sourcing and suppliers

What You Have:

•BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

•Prior experience using advanced materials (carbon fiber / composites, adhesives, metals) to achieve lightweight body systems

•5+ years of track record of developing advanced closures / body engineering 

•Solid interpersonal skills, interfacing with engineering and manufacturing groups to understand system designs and the associated constraints

•Knowledge of vehicle systems and requirements 

•Experience with composite and lightweight material tooling development

•Experience with Siemens NX CAD 

The Extras:

•Experience with aluminum bodies 

•Knowledge of lean / agile engineering processes 

•Experience with Siemens Teamcenter PLM
