You Aspire To: 

  • Design, develop and manage automation and controls projects from initial concept to on-line commissioning and proof of rate capability, and hand-off to operational teams.
  • Develop and submit budgets with ROIs for automated systems.
  • Work and adapt to schedules and priority timelines to ensure project success.
  • Drive specifications for deliverables with design engineers (internal & external) to define build and test criteria and production operation requirements.
  • Trade machine design options for flexibility vs risk, cost and schedule comparisons
  • Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost and lead-time limits.
  • Architect, write, and debug PLC code with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable for manufacturing applications.
  • Implement (ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant) control reliable safety systems for safeguarding all robotics and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Generate aesthetically simple HMI screens for complex machinery while providing sufficient feedback for troubleshooting.
  • Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing.
  • Select and size electrical and electromechanical components such as servo motors and controllers.
  • Deploy automated processes and equipment into production.

What's Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, physics, or computer science
  • Practical experience implementing algorithms/software for the calibration and motion control of complex automated system.
  • 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following:
    • Professional experience or internships in automation (industrial, machine, robotic, test, or control systems)
    • Involvement with a project team designing and building robotics or automated systems.
    • Academic research on robotics or machine design
  • Electrical schematic CAD experience using E-Plan or equivalent.
  • C++, .NET, Python and/or SQL experience
  • PLC programming and or Beckhoff experience

What's Desirable:

  • Process integration and electromechanical/mechatronic systems experience
  • HMI and SCADA programming experience
  • Field bus networks, serial communication and Ethernet communication
  • Hands-on experience building and commissioning high quality electrical control cabinets and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, UL508A codes
  • Exposure to a wide variety of production machinery, industrial sensors and equipment (vision systems, dispense systems, temperature controllers, laser distance sensors, etc)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience in fast-paced iterative design and manufacturing environments.
  • Experience solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and working knowledge of ERP/MRP/MES systems
