Responsibilites
The Guidance, Navigation and Control Subdivision, consisting of four Departments and 140 people, is looking for an Associate Principal Director to assist the Principal Director as co-lead for the growing organization. The selected candidate will provide management oversight and serve as a senior point of contact for selected Program Offices, provide technical and managerial leadership in control systems and autonomous vehicles, coordinate capabilities that span concept design through development and operation, foster new business and technological developments, serve as a senior advisor and team leader on strategic assignments and anomaly teams, conduct line management functions including staffing, training, mentoring, and strategic planning.

 

Key Functions

  • Provide technical and managerial leadership to the Guidance and Control Subdivision to develop, maintain, and apply organizational expertise in the areas of control analysis, guidance analysis, electromechanical control, and embedded control systems

  • Establish organizational direction and objectives consistent with corporate goals, customer needs and assigned functions and communicate expectations to staff

  • Create, coordinate and maintain development of tools and skills that span concept design through development, deployment and operation

  • Encourage and curate new ideas, processes and creative thinking to influence the healthy sustainment and expansion of the organizational research line

  • Maintain understanding of current and future customer needs via continuous interaction with management and program offices

  • Engage in corporate strategic initiatives and planning activities that are primary or adjacent to the core objectives of the organization

  • Identify, foster and lead new business initiatives that service new customers and exploit the state-of-the-art tools and capabilities within the subdivision

  • Monitor technical endeavors of teams and individuals to insure they are consistent with organizational standards and coordinated with other ETG organizations

  • Produce and/or approve relevant presentations and reports to keep management and customers apprised of work progress, issues, and technical recommendations

  • Lead audit and anomaly investigation teams as required

  • Conduct line management functions including establishing technical direction, strategic planning, staffing, conducting performance reviews, rewarding and developing staff, and performing administrative duties

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent

  • A minimum of 15 or more years of increasingly responsible professional experience, including substantial experience in a supervisory role

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of corporate staff, customers, and contractors

  • Demonstrated abilities to proactively apply a broad set of skills to work diverse problems is highly desired, as is acute technical insight, seasoned problem-solving skills, and maturity of judgment

  • Demonstrated strong technical leadership skills, proven ability to build interdisciplinary teams

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

Preferred

  • Advanced degree in a STEM field or equivalent is highly desirable

  • Broad range of experience with subject matter experts and project management, to include anomaly investigations, advisory roles, leadership positions of influence

  • Comprehensive experience with control systems in general, from algorithms to hardware, and company-wide recognition of technical expertise

  • Knowledge of DevOps processes, tools and hardware prototyping

  • Current and active TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government is preferred. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
