About This Role 
Apeel Sciences is seeking a highly-motivated and creative scientist to identify and validate potential biomarkers to help us understand plant physiology and produce quality. The candidate will work closely with other members of the Biological Sciences, Barrier Development, and Analytical Sciences team to aid in the assay development of established targets, but still show a high level of autonomy and ownership to find new biological targets and methods for analysis. Successful candidates will be organized, detail-oriented, and excellent communicators with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. The candidate should be excited by the idea of applying cutting-edge molecular diagnostic approaches to the world of fresh fruit and produce.

What You’ll Do

• Collect and analyze various data related to produce quality
• Assay development with emphasis on identifying new biological targets and to incorporate new methodologies/analytical techniques
• Ability to effectively communicate (written and oral) complex information to a wide variety of audiences, ranging from the Biological Sciences team to the company as a whole
• Preference will be given to candidates with previous research experience

What You Bring

• Currently pursuing a degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field of study
• At minimum 1+ year of research outside of the classroom
• Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Strong interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work within teams, especially as part of multidisciplinary collaborations
