In this role, you will become part of the Antenna Development and Test Section. Supporting the development of space-based communication systems operating at frequencies from “DC” to “Daylight”, we solve the problems that others can’t. We are looking for a talented technician who enjoys hands-on operations and desires a challenging environment where you both actively contribute to varied laboratory projects and acquire new fabrication, measurement, and test capabilities. **This role is open to candidates willing and able to work full-time on-site in general laboratory conditions following corporate COVID-19 guidelines at our Aerospace El Segundo, CA location**
**This position is open to hire an Aerospace Technical Specialist Level I or Level II**
Key Functions
Laboratory Activities:
- Maintaining laboratory cleanliness and safety
- Sustaining and maintaining laboratory equipment
- Interacting with engineers, technicians, administrators and facilities workers
- Working in a dynamic environment with multiple projects and shifting priorities
- Working under the direction of engineers and senior technicians
- Learning, asking questions and suggesting solutions
- Communicating using email
- Documenting work using Microsoft Office software
To be considered for this role you must be able to perform one or more of these functions:
- Antenna measurements including setting up and performing tests
- Assembly of electrical circuits, soldering, wire-harness fabrication
- Circuit testing using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers
- 3D mechanical structure design using Solidworks or AutoCAD
- Machining using CNC mills and conventional machine tools and equipment
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree or higher
- At least one year of industry experience
- Mechanical fabrication skills
- Must be capable of independently performing their own machine set-ups on standard shop equipment including CNC and conventional mills, lathes and surface grinders
- Complete understanding of Machine Shop support equipment such as cut-off saws, band saws, shears, belt sanders and pedestal polishing
- Experience with the measurements using basic electrical laboratory equipment (meters, signal sources, oscilloscopes)
- High motivation with proficiency to learn and carry out tasks with guidance/leadership of experienced staff
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance or higher (US citizenship is required to obtain this clearance)
Required for consideration as an Electronics Technology Specialist II (in addition)
- At least 3 years of industry experience
- Significant experience with RF and antenna measurements using advanced electrical laboratory equipment, such as network and spectrum analyzers
- Familiarity with operating computer programs for automated data acquisition
- Experience with PCB layout tools such as PADS, digital layout principles, and PCB assembly
- Significant experience with mechanical fabrication skills including wire harness and coaxial cable fabrication
Preferred
- Hand on experience with 3D mechanical structure design using Solidworks or AutoCAD
- Hand on experience in machining using CNC mills and conventional machine tools and equipment
