About the role

  • The Director of Hardware Engineering leads the electrical hardware design of automated systems for both new (greenfield) and existing (brownfield) installations. This role ensures all designs meet industry standards (UL, IEC, NFPA) and customer specifications, with a focus on robust field device layout and component selection. You will collaborate across teams and with customers to clarify requirements, drive innovation, and deliver reliable solutions. The Director will mentor and develop a high-performing engineering team, set strategic vision, and build scalable processes to support rapid organizational growth.

What you'll do

  • Lead hardware design for automated systems in both greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • Ensure all designs comply with UL, IEC, NFPA, and customer specifications.
  • Oversee robust field device layout and component selection.
  • Collaborate with customers during requirements gathering and design reviews.
  • Mentor engineers, set strategic direction, and build a scalable, high-performing team.
  • Develop and implement engineering processes to support rapid growth.
  • Drive cross-functional teamwork and uphold Aegis’s core values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • Advanced expertise in Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, and Safety over Ethernet/IP.
  • Proven ability to design Main Control Panels and select components for complex systems.
  • Successful leadership of hardware design for both new installations and upgrades.
  • Deep knowledge of UL, IEC, NFPA, and other relevant codes.
  • Skilled at customer engagement during requirements and design reviews.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and build scalable teams.
  • Comfortable building processes and scaling a team in a fast-growing, dynamic environment.
