Hawke Media’s creative team is up to new ideas! And it starts with you. We're looking to bring on an enthusiastic, passionate and creative web designer. If you are versatile, self-motivated and thrive in a fast-paced “learn-by-doing” environment, then you'll find our atmosphere very exciting. You will be working on a variety of projects, ranging from high-profile, mass scale clients to brand new start-ups looking to find their identity.

Join us as part of a multi-skilled team of designers who also love to dabble in front-end CMS development, and help us build as an integral part of our team. The Web Designer will have a diverse portfolio of design work as well as CMS work. Proven experience building on front-end web platforms such as Wordpress & Shopify, and experience with Javascript is a plus.


*this is not a full stack development role

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, wireframe, design and create websites using CMS’s such as Wordpress & Shopify
  • Alter templates using HTML & CSS, following modern design trends
  • Transform interactive prototypes into production-ready websites, including mobile-friendly responsive design
  • Update and maintain existing websites, including content updates, visual enhancements, landing page creation and performance profiling/optimization
  • Contribute to creating feature specifications and technical design blueprints
  • Think creatively to develop new design and packaging concepts, graphics and layouts
  • Create designs and produce production ready artwork
  • Scheduled project implementation when required
  • Manage your own projects with a self-starter attitude, and communicate clearly with clients

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong design, typographical and interactive skills that match with modern design trends and best practices
  • Proven experience of front-end design (HTML, CSS) including responsive design
  • Proven experience with Photoshop and Illustrator and back-end programming familiarity (php or liquid/ ruby manipulation)
  • Knowledge of ecommerce best practices, and conversion rate optimization
  • High attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication
  • Creative flair, versatility, conceptual/visual ability and originality
  • Ability to interact, communicate and present ideas and receive creative directions and feedbacks
