UX Researcher (Contract)
Summary:
We are looking for a contract UX Researcher (onsite only) to jump in and support our Head of UX Research on analysis of data from a variety of user research studies, including: usability tests, semi-structured interviews, diary studies, contextual inquiries, surveys, and more. The contract will be from now until our April 2020 launch and will be 40 hours/week, flexing up and down as projects require.
What You'll Do:
• Work with our participant recruitment vendor to screen, schedule, and coordinate research participants before, during, and after each study
• Observe and take notes during usability sessions and in-depth interviews
• Manage Observer Room during research sessions and synthesize observer notes/summaries
• Review interview transcripts, develop coding system, and methodically code text
• Identify and edit key video clips from research sessions using tools like Camtasia
• Synthesize research findings into a clear, compelling narrative, leveraging video footage, key quotes, and other artifacts to build empathy for our audience
• Support on study design, discussion guide creation, and moderation
What You'll Need:
• Qualitative user researcher with 2+ years experience with end-to-end research. Experience specific to mobile and streaming apps is a big plus.
• BA/BS degree in Anthropology, Human Factors, Psychology, HCI/Computer Science, a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with live and remote usability studies, semi-structured interviews, diary studies, contextual inquiries, and surveys
• Experience translating user research findings into product design recommendations
• General understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods
• Thorough with special attention to detail
• Excellent communication and writing skills: can brainstorm with a group, articulate ideas, and tease out feedback from colleagues
