UMG is seeking an IT UX Research Specialist to join our team. At UMG, our IT User Experience Researchers help us focus on the internal user. In this role, you will create understanding and empathy around user needs, stated and unstated, for the entire product team including designers, product managers, and engineers. You will conduct primary research, exploring the behaviors and motivations of our users through methods like field visits, ethnography, surveys, and usability testing. This research will help us introduce useful, usable, and new products and features for people as well as continually innovating on our existing services. You'll inspire change at all stages of product development by delivering compelling, written, in-person and visual presentations on your findings. This individual is responsible for designing, planning and conducting user research. He/she converts research findings into actionable next steps and helps drive continued research for cross-functional teams.

What Bandmember Are You?

  • Experience with conducting user research.
  • Experience with qualitative and user-centered design methodologies.
  • Experience conducting semi-structured interviews, contextual field visits, usability studies either live or remote.
  • Experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices.
  • Plan and implement the overall user research strategy and methods.
  • Consulting with internal users to understand their goals and explaining research results.
  • Developing personas and usage scenarios.
  • Analyzing user feedback and activity and iterating to enhance the user experience.
  • Assisting with content development and user training.
  • Research user personas and investigate user behavior
  • Lead the users throughout the process of proposing, wireframing, and implementing UX improvements
  • Employ a mixed-methods approach to gathering both generative and evaluative feedback on designs and concepts. Methods may include: heuristic evaluations ethnography, field studies, surveys, participatory design, experience mapping, usability tests, card sorting, moderated and unmoderated remote testing, in-depth user interviews, as well as stakeholder interviews.
  • Triage and evaluate incoming requests, identify complex user experience problems and high-impact projects, and delivery findings in time for them to be useful and relevant.
  • Manage research from kick-off and recruitment to effective communication of the synthesized findings to stakeholders.
  • Aligns and collaborates with analytics and consumer insights teams to tell a cohesive story about our users.
  • Identify opportunities for research to have greater impact across product teams and throughout the organization.
  • Understand product roadmaps and be able to translate them into long-term and short-term research plans.
  • Work with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers and others to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

  • Must be organized, able to act independently and able to switch between projects in a fast-paced and exciting environment.
