Responsibilities

  • Tech Designer contact for our Nova Sport department.
  • Direct contact with vendors for all technical design aspects of style lifecycle, including but not limited to: initial development measurements, advise correct construction methods, update/maintain our pattern and fit library, provide complete and easily understandable fit comments, and finalize approved grade rules for production.
  • Over time will develop fit library to be used as a reference guide for company standards.
  • Inspect all samples received from proto stage to TOP samples in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for tracking style measurements, thoroughly analyze each sample submitted to provide fit comments/approved grade rules and maintain/update the department's pattern library.
  • Review construction and quality of submitted for each sample to ensure samples follow proper construction for each style.
  • Ability to communicate fit and balance issues via easily understandable written and/or visual methods. Major plus if you have pattern experience in Gerber.
  • Execute fit comments in a timely manner to ensure the fit sample review process stays on time with production timelines.
  • Cross-examine sample against style Tech Pack and against previous fit samples to ensure comments have been corrected.
  • Document clear and precise notes during line review and fitting.
  • Update Tech Packs with most current information for BOM, construction templates, and measurements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functioning teams to gain clear direction of fit intent.
  • Maintain professional and timely email correspondence with domestic & overseas vendors
  • Identify potential production, quality, and costing issues and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Track and manage workflow and workload for your own product to ensure product areas are maintained with a cross-functional team.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of Technical Design umbrella with specialization in Performance Activewear: construction, fit, pattern making, fabric relation to design intent, and overall improving quality of a garment while maintaining cost.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience as an apparel Technical Designer with 3-5 years in Performance and Swim.
  • Must be able to make advise fit corrections on pattern pieces via Flat and CAD Pattern Making (Bonus if experience in Gerber but other CAD applications are acknowledged).
  • Established knowledge of proper fit and pattern adjustments.
  • Proven understanding of complex fabrications/construction experienced in Active and Swim including but not limited to seamless, cut & sew knit, and cut & sew woven 
  • Ability to lead live fittings and evaluate overall fit with understanding to make necessary fit/pattern corrections to achieve the desired fit.
  • Desire to learn and grow individual skills in Technical Design and surrounding departments.
  • Full understanding of developing thorough Tech Packs including but not limited to: BOM, measurement sheets, construction information, and final grade rules.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Illustrator, and Google Suite.
  • Plus, if you have experience in a PLM software.
  • Ability to identify apparel flaws quickly and effectively and/or possible production issues.
  • Team-oriented; ability to excel in a team-based structure.
  • Strong communication skills (Verbal and Written) and organizational skills
  • Self-starter, multi-task oriented and the ability to resolve issues in a timely fashion.
  • Understanding how to prioritize workload based on urgencies/dates provided.
  • Organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
