Sr Systems Designer (Economy)
Join our award-winning God of War team
We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Designer to join our Player Investment Team. As an Economy Designer, you’ll design, implement, and tune the global resource economy and XP/leveling progression over the course of the game. We’ll rely on you to make decisions using a combination of playtest feedback, telemetry, and design instinct. The ideal candidate can demonstrate their ideas in Excel and then use data to back up their theories or make the necessary changes in a fast paced environment. You’ll be responsible for taking your numbers from the spreadsheet to the screen using text based and visual scripting. Must be comfortable taking ownership of a feature while also integrating feedback from peers, Leads, and Directors.
Responsibilities
Create the resource economy, crafting recipes, and upgrades with input from the Progression Designer, Lead, and Directors
Work with Combat Design to tune XP gains and skill tree unlocks
Author loot drops for creatures and containers using text-based and visual scripting
Tune numbers for drops, recipes, and XP gains over the course of the game using a combination of hard data and gut instinct
Create and maintain all documentation so that we are able to track progression and simulate outcomes before the game is playable
Requirements
Approach tuning with passion, patience, and a desire to tweak numbers until they feel just right
Excel expert with a love for numbers
Very high attention to detail
Experience creating and owning an in-game economy for at least 1 shipped title
Knowledge of competitive products as well as a personal understanding in video game fun
Team oriented mentality, no task is too small or too complicated if it makes the game better
5+ years’ experience as a Systems Designer and/or Economy Designer
