About the role and about You:

Zwift is on the search for a talented & experienced Principal Technical Artist to help bring gameplay visuals and player experiences to the next level. You will have a strong track record of upgrading game visuals through technical optimizations, tool creation, and pipeline improvements across mobile, console & PC. You are a highly collaborative partner to artists and engineers, as well as a gifted teacher, able to train new team members and evangelize new technologies. 

 What you’ll do: 

  • Partner with the Art Director, Design Director & Engineering leads to create tools & improve graphics quality & performance
  • Hands-on creation of art tools & pipelines, as well as maintaining & upgrading these tools
  • Collaborate with third party teams to co-develop components of the art pipeline
  • Partner with Producers, PMs & UX designers to ensure accurate scoping, scheduling, and on-time deliveries

What we’re looking for:

  • 7+ years experience as a technical artist, with multiple shipped titles on PC, console & mobile
  • 5+ years working on live games
  • Hands-on experience developing art tools and optimizing asset pipelines for multiple graphics engines
  • Expert knowledge of one or more world-building editors (e.g., Unity, Unreal, home-grown)
  • Experience partnering with development outsource teams, co-creating tools
  • Expert knowledge of Maya (including scripting & shader setup), Adobe Suite, and other commonly used game art tools
  • A diplomatic & inclusive leadership style with a cross-discipline approach to problem-solving
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, a lightning-fast pace, and a high degree of ownership
  • Finalists will be required to provide work samples and complete an assignment

Bonus points: 

  • Experience working with a wide variety of game platforms, controllers, and interactive hardware components
  • Interest in creating fun experiences for cycling, running, and overall fitness
