Responsibilities
The Visualization and Immersive Technologies Department (VITD) develops a wide variety of innovative tools and applications to support civil, commercial, and national security space systems. From virtual and augmented reality, to web, cloud, and desktop visualization; VITD evaluates and creates unique visual experiences that present data and analysis to key decision makers. We are looking for a motion graphics designer that can join our team. The motion graphics designer will be tasked with transforming complex engineering prototypes and concepts into modern animations, 2D graphics and storyboards.
Key Functions
- Develop 3D animations and motion graphics
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
- Experience presenting concepts to a variety of engineers, management and customers
- Ability to create style-frames and storyboards for engineering concepts
- Create and animate UI designs and conceptual UX graphics and videos
- Assist with management and integration of digital art assets in Unity game engine
- Solid understanding of color theory
- Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently, and able to communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients
- Desire to learn new visualization tools
This position can be filled as a Motion Graphics Designer or a Sr. Motion Graphics Designer
Qualifications
Required for Motion Graphics Designer:
- Bachelors of Art in Animations, Digital Arts, Industrial and Advertising Art, or similar discipline
- Two or more years of work experience developing 3D motion graphics and animations with Adobe After Effects, Cinema4D or similar
- Experience with the Adobe Suite and film editing tools
- Must be able to multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple projects at once
- Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to reiterate directly with customers to capture the vision of their projects in concept art or storyboards
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
Required for Senior Motion Graphics Designer:
- Bachelors of Art in Animations, Digital Arts, Industrial and Advertising Art, or similar discipline
- Five or more years of work experience developing 3D motion graphics and animations with Adobe After Effects, Cinema4D or similar
- Fluency with the Adobe Suite and film editing tools
- Must be able to multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple projects at once
- Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to reiterate directly with customers to capture the vision of their projects in concept art or storyboards
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
Preferred
- Understanding of physics-based movements to create realistic animations
- Interest in UX design
- Experience creating and texturing models in 3DS Max, Autodesk Maya, Blender or equivalent
- Ability to learn Unity game engine framework and/or 3D modeling packages
