Provides professional engineering/scientific support in the areas of statistics and reliability engineering.



Key Functions

  • Apply statistical techniques to derive insight and assess risk from a wide variety of data related to space systems.

  • Perform analysis on system availability and replenishment planning for satellite systems.

  • Develop, evaluate, and update reliability models associated with satellite systems and launch vehicle systems.

  • Provide technical advice to management, customers, and associate contractors.

  • Document technical efforts and brief internal and external customers.

 

This position is available as a Member of Technical Staff (L1) and Sr. Member of Technical Staff ( Sr. L1)

 

Required for MTS (L1)

  • Master's degree in statistics or a related field with a strong emphasis on statistics from a recognized institution

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, Aerospace program offices and contractors, and engineering staff across a broad range of disciplines

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple simultaneous tasks, and be flexible to changes in tasking

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. 


 

Additional Requirements for Sr. MTS (L1)

  • Two or more years of increasingly responsible and related engineering/scientific experience

  • Experience in the space industry and reliability engineering domain

 

 

Preferred

  • Ph.D. in statistics

  • Fluency in at least one programming and scripting language (e.g. R, Python, C++, Java, Matlab)

  • Current TS/SCI clearance

To protect against bad actors threatening outer space, the hardware security team’s responsibilities run the gamut. Zantout’s work includes research and development, prototyping, and applying hardware assurance capabilities to national security space and terrestrial programs. Recently, her team built a security monitor that detects attacks on field-programmable gate arrays aboard spacecrafts and satellites.
I have the opportunity to work on technical and hands-on projects as well as policy-related tasks like standard development.
