This highly motivated Principal Data Scientist will help build the next generation of data products at Spring Labs. The role presents a significant intellectual, technical, and operational challenge with enormous opportunity for business impact. The successful candidate is a hands on data science practitioner and thought leader, with strong stakeholder management skills, relentless drive to pursue innovation in a fast paced environment, deep technical aptitude, and demonstrated ability to produce complex ML products themselves, while helping to develop and grow the team.
This is an internal and external customer interfacing position, therefore this role requires highly effective collaboration, presentation and communication skills.
What you'll do
- Manage data science workstreams and eventually build a team of data scientists, ML experts and data engineers
- Work closely with product managers, software engineers, and infrastructure engineers to define strategy, roadmap and requirements
- Ensure the data science team successfully delivers on design, development, testing, experimentation, and the operations of algorithms, data pipelines, and systems
- Regularly communicate with senior management on status, risk and strategyIterate on data products by adapting to new data sources and/or modeling techniques and procedures
- Guide the development teams to build scalable, efficient and automated data pipelines including
- ML model implementation
- Provide technical guidance to team members on modeling and analysis techniques
- Participate in business development calls with external participants to convey modeling and analytics concepts
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related quantitative field
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in applied machine learning, statistical analysis
- 3+ years in the Financial Services, FinTech or related Industry strongly preferred
- Highly proficient in Python, R, SQL, Spark, and other big data tools
- Expertise in statistical and machine learning techniques such as Logistic Regression, Tree based ML algorithms (Random Forest, XGB), Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, etc.
- Extensive experience communicating key points through data visualization
- Understanding of regulatory requirements for models in Financial Services is a plus
