About the Role

The data engineers work tightly with the data scientist/machine learning engineers and MLOps engineers on our team to create the data infrastructure and pipelines to drive our machine learning projects from initial experimentation to production level deployment. They interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources such as relational databases, unstructured data, streaming data for model training. They are also responsible for building pipelines that bring data into ML models in production and building ML model monitoring pipelines.

Basic Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of experience as Big Data Engineer or in a similar role
• Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines 
• Proficient in SQL
• Familiarity with Cloud services like Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud
• Experience using big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Kafka ect.
• Proficiency in one or more of the scripting languages: Python, Scala or other scripting language
• Managed systems with complex dependency management and orchestration requirements
• Experience with real time data processing

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of and experiences with infrastructure as code (TerraForm)  and automation for CI/CD
• Strong experience with Kafka
• Experience operating data lake
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, EKS
• Familiarity with Airflow
• Exposure to other noSQL technologies like MongoDB, Cassandra and Redis etc.
• Experience with data collection from large-scale and/or public APIs
• ML model deployment, serving, and performance monitoring
