What we need:

We are searching for a seasoned Database Team Manager to lead our talented Database Team. You are a seasoned data visionary who understands that at the core of any successful business is healthy data and data infrastructure, which enables the business to make good data-driven decisions. You are an expert in OLTP and data warehouse design, but also enjoy creating ad-hoc SQL queries to answer complex business questions. While you enjoy head's down work, you also are good communicator who can work with various stakeholders to understand their data needs, and mentor more junior members of the team.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee Hallmark Labs' Database Team
• Reporting to the Sr. Director of Engineering to improve data processes and team culture, budget planning, and roadmap execution planning, converting ideas and vision into executable tasks and general data strategy. 
• Operate and run a data infrastructure that scales
• Collaborate with stakeholders to unlock value found in data and make it visible to others
• Establish and standardize data practices, and lead and mentor others in them
• Own data security standards
• Continually monitor and optimize data stores and ETLs
• Establish data architecture design and development standards
• Create and implement disaster recovery and high availability plans
• Create and implement backup and recovery plans
• Estimate work effort and allocate database team resources, enabling multiple simultaneous sprints across three functional products. 
• Provide technical data leadership and guidance to both your team members and your project peers. 
• Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams. 
• Provide a comprehensive onboarding process for new team members to indoctrinate them into the company development culture. 
• Interview, hire, and onboard new database engineers and/or administrators to the team. 

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering or 4 years professional work experience
• 4+ years of experience as a Data Architect and Manager
• 8+ years of SQL experience
• 4+ years of disaster recovery and backup experience
• 4+ years' experience in defining high availability redundancy strategies on systems including replication, clustering, log shipping, mirroring.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience with MySQL (familiarity with 5.6 is highly preferred)
• 4+ years of experience with AWS RDS (MySql, Aurora, MariaDB), AWS EC2, Postgres
• 4+ years of creating and maintaining data warehouses
• 3+ years of architecting and implementing security compliance across all data platforms. PCI, PII
• 2+ years of IT operational experience supporting media, e-commerce, gaming or online businesses in a 24X7 production environment
• Experience with monitoring database/system performance using Enterprise monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, NewRelic
• Expertise in relational database administration including configuration, implementation, data modeling, maintenance, redundancy/HA, security, troubleshooting/performance tuning, upgrades, database, data and server migrations, SQL.
• Knowledge of understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals (DNS, FTP, SSH), general networking technologies, AWS VPC stack, network architecture and connectivity troubleshooting
• Experience with agile software development methodology
