Senior Data Analyst
We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join Tinder’s Business Analytics team. Our team’s mission is to use data to make all of the other teams at Tinder (and the organization as a whole) more successful. We understand who our customers are, what they need, and how to acquire and retain them. We work with finance to understand transactions, and model the impact of new product ideas on LTV and other metrics.
Philosophically, we believe in going well beyond what a traditional business intelligence team might do. While we do serve other groups like Product, Marketing, and Finance with dashboard and data, we also seek to help other teams use data to consider prioritization, think through difficult decisions, and find new opportunities.
As a Senior Analyst, you will provide data-driven insights in the form of ad hoc analyses, presentations, and automated reports, and will encompass marketing, product, and finance analytics. This role will require extensive experience with SQL, data wrangling, and statistics. Experience with mobile products preferred.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Analyze patterns of customer behavior in order to inform product/marketing/business decisions
- Find the “story” in the data and communicate insights and opportunities with executive and other internal teams
- Integrate captured event data with other sources of customer data, such as surveys and app store data
- Support Tinder’s data needs by using SQL to query Amazon Redshift (and soon Apache Spark)
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of growth, engagement, and revenue
- Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting related to domestic and international inquiries
Skills Required:
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Ability to think objectively and interpret meaningful themes from quantitative and qualitative data
- Ability to build constructive and effective relationships with a broad and diverse group of business partners
- Ability to present information in an action-oriented way to individuals, small groups, leadership, and peers
- Ability to execute on complex analytics projects where you have to figure out the salient questions in a complex ecosystem
- Proficiency with SQL required
- Scripting skills, preferably in Python. Strong Python/NumPy/PANDAS skills a plus
- Knowledge of statistics, specifically experimental design and analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
- Familiarity with common KPIs, metrics, and growth experiments
As part of our team, you’ll enjoy:
- The hustle of a startup with the impact of a global business
Tremendous opportunity to solve some of the industry’s most exciting problems
Working with an extraordinary team of smart, creative, fun and highly motivated people
Comprehensive health coverage, competitive salary, 401(k) match and meaningful equity
Unlimited vacation and flexible working hours
Daily catered lunches, endless supply of refreshments, basketball court, fitness classes and social events
- Modern, uplifting work environment in an ideal location
