BlackLine is looking for a Director of Data Integration Services to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the integration of new customers' data into the Blackline Ecosystem. You will lead a team of passionate data experts that operates at the intersection of our Professional Services group, who onboard new customers, and our Cloud Engineering and Operations teams who oversee 24/7 BlackLine Product availability from our multiple datacenters.
In this position, you will have the ability to manage a word-class team who drives and promotes Data Standards and Best Practices, operational and developmental success, and data-backed support for all of BlackLine's solutions. You will be a thought-leader, a champion for Data concepts and guidelines within the organization, focusing on cultivating a results and quality-first culture. By leading a team of Database Engineers and Database Administrators, Data Architects, and Managers, you will be able to affect transformative change within the organization by focusing on best of breed, scalable, performant, and qualitative delivery of BlackLine solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the technical integration of new customer data into the BlackLine ecosystem
- Provide technical and operational leadership, with a demonstrated ability to lead at all levels
- Manage a team of Database Engineers, DBAs, Implementation Developers, and Managers, focusing on effective prioritization while balancing quality, delivery, and best practices
- Contribute knowledge, skills, and personal qualities to a dedicated team of top engineers solving real-life problems in a bleeding-edge, high-performance, and high-volume environment
- Develop, apply and promote consistent data and database management standards through standard processes and SOPs
- Drive automation and optimization efforts to increase the efficiency of new customers' integration
- Drive problem resolution to the root cause and take initiative in identifying and fixing broken processes
- Drive adoption and champion best practices in data health and integrity, resource utilization, the proper use of the right data-related capabilities for the right use case, processes, internal tools, and other facets as needed in order to promote a culture of excellence within the organization
- Passionate about the technical and business opportunities that our customers' problems may present
- Ability to proactively anticipate challenges, and predict future obstacles
- Lead the resolution of complex technical challenges related to engineering productivity, operational usage and support, and overall database-related concepts and needs
- Interface with external vendors or other 3rd parties and service providers, managing relationships and escalations
- Partner with peers both inside and outside of the department, working towards holistic improvements, new solutions and success for the company and our customers
- Partner and Collaborate with Infrastructure and Operations groups to ensure platform availability and performance
- Interact with Executive Management to understand corporate priorities and goals, as well as communicate technical subjects of interest or need
- Define and measure key metrics/KPIs, highlighting data trends, usage, utilization, and forecasting future growth
- Regularly review, forecast, and plan for data needs over growth periods, focusing on reducing TCO and optimizing for efficiency, performance, and future tools and technologies
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience leading data intensive projects and overseeing database engineers, SQL developers, integration engineers and / or data warehousing experts focused on Web Applications/SaaS
- Highly communicative leadership style who can reduce inefficiencies and ensure clarity
- Excellent leadership skills showing commitment, strategic foresight and planning, integrity, and moving the team and organization towards continuous success
- Proven ability to mentor leaders within the organization to create additional leadership opportunities for staff, as well as allowing the ability to separate tactical vs. strategic thinkers
- Proven ability at interfacing with internal stakeholders from engineering, support and professional services as well as external stakeholders including clients and alliance partners
- 10+ years of experience of high-volume, high-availability, data infrastructure projects resulting in expert knowledge of databases and database scaling concerns and tools
- Prior hands-on technical experience with SQL and SQL Server tools (e.g., Extended Events, Service Broker, SSRS, SSIS, SSDT) or equivalent technologies including performance tuning, clustering, sharding, security, and modern storage schemas
- Hands-on experience of and working with Data Lakes and their supporting architectures, Complex Event Processing and Data Warehousing
- Experience with modern open source and/or cloud-based platforms and technologies, as well as development methodologies and processes
- Proven track record of architecting, developing and implementing robust, distributed online solutions
- Ability to manage multiple technically complex projects at the same time
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience
