FabFitFun is seeking a DBA to optimize, manage and design our database persistence layer. This newly created role will be a technical thought leader for questions like, "Stored Procedures: when and why?" and "When to use DynamoDB vs Aurora." This DBA will get to optimize, tune, refactor a data persistence layer that operates under high scale and availability.

What you'll do:

  • Work closely with engineering pods to direct data model designs
  • Collaborate with DevOps to provide database tuning
  • Provide thought leadership on topics like Stored Procedures vs SQL in code (where which is appropriate, why, etc)
  • Work closely with Data Team to ensure that the appropriate ETL solutions are in place
  • Provide guidance on the appropriate storage solutions for the given need, i.e. when to use Key-Value stores vs Relational Databases

What you'll bring:

  • BS or higher in Comp Science or equivalent focus
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • Expert in SQL
  • Experience with AWS Aurora, Postgres, MySQL
  • Strong understanding of AWS hosted data architectures and tooling
