DATA PLATFORM ENGINEERING MANAGER
TeleSign is looking to hire a Data Engineering Manager who will lead the team AWS infrastructure within TeleSign Operations as we build a highly virtualized and distributed transaction processing platform. Team members must be detail oriented, demonstrate good risk management-based decision making, and bring innovative, reliable solutions to challenges and problems alike. Successful candidates will possess strong AWS technical skills, along with proven Data Engineering experience at scale. Candidates must be self-motivated and demonstrate a drive to research and complete assigned tasks whether working independently as a member of a cross-organizational team.
What you will do:
- Build, implement and maintain the cloud infrastructure of the company.
- Understand and anticipate the needs of the product owners, and propose scalable technology solutions.
- Focus on system design that is easy to test, leverages mocked systems as needed, and exemplifies transparency of business logic
- Responsible for architecture and technical direction of the team
- Managing a team of both Software Engineers and Data Engineers
- Develop team members performance and training plans, ensuring that they align with the company’s objectives and the individuals career goals
- Plans and coordinates all the activities of the team
- Ensures operational continuity of the team and proactively escalates any potential risks
- Works with other team’s Leads to coordinate cross team communication
- Personally, solves escalated requests or forwards them to next level of authority for resolution
- Participate in hiring process of Software Engineer and Data Engineers
About you:
- 5+ years developing cloud-based, scalable ETL systems
- Expertise in Python and Scala
- Familiarity with noSQL options, and their pros and cons (Cassandra, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, etc)
- 3 + years’ experience with Spark and other ETL tools (Airflow, AWS Glue, etc.))
- Experience with AWS Code Commit or Terraform
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- Experience leading or mentoring teammates
Nice to have:
- Awareness of the R programming language and how to support it in a production system.
