Summary

Pluto TV is seeking a Data Analyst, who will support the Business Intelligence business unit in a consultative role on what the data is telling them what to do and not to do. We like to think of the Data Analyst as a “data doctor”, and the analyst is expected to take a proactive role in validating and certifying data.

Data analyst responsibilities include conducting full lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities and design. Data analysts will develop analysis and reporting capabilities. They will also monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements.

The analyst will be supporting one, or more, of the following data environments: Snowflake, AWS Redshift, AWS Athena, KafkaSQL, Freewheel Advertising Platform.

Responsibilities include

This is a critical role with a wide range of responsibilities, including:

• Data validation analysis across databases, data feeds, APIs, etc.
• Implementing relevant data validation methods (e.g. allowed character checks, cross-system consistency checks, table look-up checks, etc.)
• Utilizing statistics and data modeling to monitor baselines, anomaly detection and build queries, dashboards and alert mechanisms
• Work with digital advertising and streaming video data
• Interpreting data, analyzing results using statistical techniques
• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
• Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
• Conduct ad hoc analysis as needed
• Supporting the Business Intelligence team with reports, dashboards and presentations that inform business Key Performance Indicators
• Ensuring consistency/standardization in data, metrics, and analysis across the BI team

Qualities / Experience We're Seeking

We believe the right individual will have the following skills and experience in order to be successful in this role:

• Mastery in one or more flavors of SQL (ANSI, Snowflake, RedShift, PostreSQL, etc.)
• Experience building and maintaining Tableau dashboards
• Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
• Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
• Strong programming/scripting skills in Python, R is a major plus
• Experience with SaaS Big Data Platforms (AWS or Google Cloud)
• Experience working with one or more BI Platforms (Alteryx, Knime, Dataiku, etc.) is a plus
• Experience supporting data and data systems in one or more of the following domains strongly preferred: Marketing, Distribution, Revenue, Customer Retention, Engineering, Quality Assurance and/or Entertainment
• BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics
