About the Business Strategy Director (Temp) at Headspace:

Headspace exists to improve the health and happiness of the world, and we are expanding our capabilities to deliver on that mission. We are in search of an extraordinary business strategy leader who can support both ongoing business strategy for our global business and support new venture development on our healthcare team. We are looking for a passionate and driven individual to help us grow. The ideal candidate has significant experience in development of new business models, financial modeling, market research, competitive analysis, and go-to-market strategy development for healthcare and enterprise offerings. In addition, the ideal candidate has had experience with human-centered design and new ventures. We are looking for a go-getter who is not afraid to put in the time and effort to build a new business from the ground up.

The Business Strategy Director will report to the Chief Strategy and Science Officer functionally and will join a cross-functional team driven by the Director of Behavioral Science. This individual will be a key member of the leadership team responsible for building new mental health products and services for our business-to-business (B2B). 

This is a temporary, project-based role with the potential to transition to a permanent position after three months pending business needs.

Location: This role is open to remote employees in select US states: California, New York, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Maryland + Washington DC, North Carolina and Washington. 

How your skills and passion will come to life at Headspace:

  • Work closely with cross-functional partners including, Design, UX, Product, Content, Science, Finance, and Engineering teams to ensure a coordinated and deliberate approach toward launching complex projects
  • Conduct comprehensive viability assessment (e.g., market research, competitive analysis, pricing analysis, etc.) to develop near and long-term strategy, positioning, and monetization roadmap.
  • Explore potential business models and revenue streams (with initial focus on employer-funded reimbursement models) using discovery-driven planning and financial modeling.
  • Develop go-to-market strategy for launch and scaling considerations, to include: customer acquisition, brand, operations, partnership development, and distribution.
  • Prototype and pilot lean experiments to test core hypotheses and assumptions related to product and business model.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify, align, and prioritize near and long-term goals, vision, and KPIs.
  • Identify and engage external stakeholders to create strategic partnerships.

What you’ve accomplished:

  • 8+ years of industry experience.
  • Successful candidates will combine rigorous strategic business acumen across many of the following areas, along with world-class depth in one or two: Product Development, Product Management, Start-ups, Marketing (Product or Brand), Organizational Behavior, Operations, Finance, and Design.
  • Operational experience in or a deep understanding of taking offerings to market and scaling, whether as an entrepreneur or intrapreneur.
  • Excellence in complex business model development, scenario planning, and forecasting, with a depth of experience using Excel as a baseline.
  • Demonstrated fluency with the human-centered design process and an ability to work in multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfort working in an early- or mid-stage company; readily adaptable to changing market and organizational requirements.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic.
