Our ideal candidate will have a strong mix of technical and analytical skills with 3 to 5 years of experience working with agile teams in an e-commerce environment.

What you’ll do:

For every new initiative

  • Work with stakeholders to understand what the business is trying to accomplish, and use this information to build business requirements and use cases
  • Conduct research to understand both current-state functionality and the future-state functionality needed
  • Translate this information into clear and detailed technical requirements, conveyed verbally and in writing
  • Document, maintain, and communicate the overall vision and roadmap for the product being built

Every sprint

  • Create detailed user stories that include appropriate acceptance criteria
  • Communicate how the overall product vision is supported by the user stories in the backlog
  • Work with one or more delivery teams to ensure the backlog of user stories is refined based on team input, understood by the team, and estimated for work
  • Prioritize backlog and look for ways to deliver valuable increments of functionality throughout the development process

During development

  • Participate in meetings with the delivery teams you are working with
  • Be available to answer questions and clarify user stories for the delivery teams
  • Review and accept work completed to ensure it meets documented acceptance criteria

Additional responsibilities

  • Support delivery of incremental value, and ensure features are ordered considering initiative priorities
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that the minimum viable product (MVP) is clear and understood by the delivery teams
  • Work with project and program management teams to break work down into trackable segments (from initiatives to features to user stories) and help communicate status
  • Identify dependencies, risks, and issues across delivery teams and either escalate or coordinate with other teams to resolve
  • Hold delivery teams accountable for their commitments and quality standards
  • Assist in ensuring that project documentation is complete, current, and stored appropriately

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 7 years prior experience participating with software development teams in a leadership or analyst capacity, specifically in eCommerce or internet business
  • Experience in the product owner role with a scrum team, including defining and explaining the product, writing user stories that detail the product, and participating in the technical design that will deliver the product
  • Demonstrated participation in cross-functional projects and coordination of cross-functional teams
  • Ability to simplify and communicate highly complex information and processes through flow diagrams, simple visual aids, layman’s explanations, and real-world examples.
  • Ability to pick up quickly on areas of misunderstanding or revision, and re-work requirements to make accurate
  • Exceptional written skills, ranging from plain-language user stories to complex, well-organized technical documentation
  • Experience working in a scaled-Agile environment
  • Strong understanding of technical architecture concepts, including API services, event-driven architecture, and layered application design
  • Proven success in building strong relationships, clarifying stakeholder expectations, and being able to communicate at all levels concisely and accurately
  • Experience with conflict resolution, scope management, issue & risk tracking, and communicating across internal & third party vendors

Preferred Skills

  • Engineering, Information Systems or Computer Science degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
  • Consulting or start up experience
  • CSM, CSPO, PMP, Six Sigma or Lean certifications are a plus

  • Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, etc.)
