Riot Games was established in 2006 by entrepreneurial gamers who believe that player-focused game development can result in great games. In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends to critical and player acclaim. As the most played PC game in the world, over 100 million play every month. Players form the foundation of our community and it’s for them that we continue to evolve and improve the League of Legends experience.

We’re looking for humble but forward-thinking, professionals who can teach us a thing or two. We promise to return the favor. Like us, you take play seriously; you’re passionate about games. We embrace those who see things differently, aren’t afraid to experiment, and who have a healthy disregard for constraints.

That's where you come in.

As part of the Technical Art, Rigging team, you’ll build, improve, and maintain rigs for characters and props. In addition to character rig generation, you’ll own tool creation and maintenance for all other art disciplines. Working closely with animation, modeling and concept teams, you’ll uncover new ways to improve workflow and ensure functionality, consistency, and quality. Whether your support style resembles Sona’s softer side or Thresh’s daring hooks, you’ll be the carry behind the carry, helping to bolster the art teams with the strength of your rigs and tools.

You are:

  • A Maya Michelangelo: you’ve developed an advanced understanding of rigging, especially using Autodesk Maya
  • Creatively systematic: your rigs are as intricate as the inner workings of a Great Steam Golem and you enjoy building complex systems; you approach problems like puzzles, always looking for creative solutions—even if they don’t match the box art
  • Experienced: working with scripting languages like Python and C++ has helped you understand game animation, character anatomy and modeling topology especially as it applies to deformation
  • Collaborative: you actively look to support your teammates by donning your mentor cap to help them grow and develop as artists

You will:

  • Create advanced rigs for a variety of characters and assets using Maya and other internal tools
  • Troubleshoot problems for animators and other artists to break through blockers and excise inefficiency from workflow
  • Refresh the performance of our rigs and animations by running them through the spin-dry of your creative maelstrom
  • Help proactively promote collaboration between art teams to level up content alignment and consistency
  • Spread knowledge of the team’s process and help teams expand their technical know-how

Don’t forget to include a resume, cover letter, and a link to your portfolio/demo reel. We receive a lot of applications, but we’ll notice a fun, well-written intro that shows us you take play seriously.
