Content Platform and Tools Manager
Job Summary
A critical component of our content development team, the Content Platform and Tools Manager, provides the knowledge and experience to build and support a technical infrastructure that will scale to support all content development at BlackLine. This infrastructure is required to support end-to-end, and multi-channel delivery of multi-language reusable content developed across the organization.
The ideal candidate is well-versed in DITA, XML structures, tagging and search tools, and content management technologies. You understand that information architecture is critical to assimilating new products into existing information models, and you have experience partnering with vendors and internal stakeholders to build a tools infrastructure that will support content development processes. You are passionate about improving the customer experience, you are service-oriented, and you strive to reduce inefficiencies and duplicate work.
Roles and Responsibility (list in order of importance)
The responsibilities and duties of this role include, but are not limited to the following:
- Design and build content development systems that meet business objectives, while also enforcing quality, content structure, version control, and publishing strategies that support multiple deliverables, languages, and formats
- Integrate content development systems with existing technologies and adapt processes to align with them
- Streamline publishing and content creation through automation
- Train and mentor content developers in the design, development, and practice of structured authoring, build automation, XLST, DITA or similar methodologies and tools
- Enable content to be reused and localized
- Develop dashboards and reports that track the efficiency of the tools infrastructure
- Continuously evaluate new technologies and methods for delivering global content
- Develop technical content as business needs require
Required Qualifications
Years of Experience in Related Field: 10+ years direct, relevant experience working with documentation and publishing tools, 5+ years of which in a tools support capacity
Education: MA or BA/BS degree in Technical Communication, English, Jounalism, Information Sciences or Engineering or relevant professional experience
Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven experience leading an organization to an XML authoring environment or implementing a DITA CMS
- Expertise in XML technologies
- Expertise in DITA, DITA Open Toolkit, and in DTD and schema development
- Experience managing the integration of content authoring, management, or publishing systems from RFP to implementation
- Extensive experience working with industry-standard authoring tools, like Oxygen, XMetaL, or structured Framemaker
Other:
- Ability to influence, and build collaborative relationships with all stakeholders, whether C-level or individual contributor
- Experience leading teams of content developers or content tools experts
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing a Learning Management System (LMS)
- Experience managing a Translation Management System (TMS)
- Expertise in the use of business tools that help manage process efficiency or promote collaboration, such as Jira, Confluence, Salesforce, ServiceNow
