OUTER'S MISSION 

Outer is a venture-backed startup based in Santa Monica, California on a mission to get people outside and inspire healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives by creating innovative outdoor furniture.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an exceptional Sr Copywriter to join the Outer creative team. Our ideal candidate will have extensive copywriting experience and will embody the voice of the Outer brand.

You will infuse humor, wit, romance, technicality, and definition into our words to create a masterful story that reflects the heart and soul of the people behind the products.

You will work closely with the Art Director to create memorable campaigns across multiple channels including print, out of home, TV and digital.

You will report to the VP of Marketing and support the interim Head of Creative, and will partner closely with our marketing, engineering product design, and brand teams. 

Portfolio or writing samples required to be considered for role.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Develop, evolve and oversee the Outer brand tone of voice
• Develop and own an editorial and brand voice standards guide that provides guidance to internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and consistency
• Develop written content for brand campaigns, product launch campaigns, print, website, emails, events, brand experiences, paid media, and social media
• Conceptualize and develop compelling creative that builds brand awareness and drives sales
• Lead brainstorming sessions with creative and marketing teams to analyze, strategize and translate project briefs into actionable creative directives
• Partner with marketing leads to establish and drive an editorial and content calendar
• Assist in growing and managing writers (freelance or in-house) as the creative team grows

WHAT YOU’LL BRING ON DAY 1

• 10+ years of advertising, design agency, publishing and/or in-house copywriting experience, or relevant experience and skill
• At least 6+ years as a senior writer
• Superb command of the English language and grammar
• Ability to think strategically and conceptualize creatively
• Experience with strategic creative for multi-channel media executions

ABOUT OUTER

Outer started by creating the perfect outdoor sofa: beautiful, durable, comfortable, and innovative. We also invented a new model for retail because we believe that the furniture buying experience can be much better than stale, traditional showrooms with four walls, fluorescent lighting, and pushy salespeople. Our Neighborhood Showroom platform turns our customers' backyards into our physical showrooms where our customers can see, touch, and feel our products in a real backyard alongside a real customer (think: Airbnb meets retail).
