Who we are

Albert is a new type of financial service that uses powerful technology to simplify our customers’ personal finances. A startup with the backing of top-tier institutional investors, we have been trusted by over 1 million users to help achieve their financial goals. Our mission is always at the forefront: to improve the financial lives of millions of people. We strive toward this mission with a simple, yet sophisticated product, and an in house team of financial experts – or “geniuses” – who work directly with our customers. If you are a thoughtful, talented individual with an interest in our mission, we invite you to join us on our journey. Successful candidates will have a foundational knowledge of finance and the desire to better the lives of others.

About the role

The Jr. Finance Writer will help to drive product engagement for our user-base, building out an engaging suite of targeted financial guides to create a rich in-app experience. The ideal writer is a jack-of-all-trades with an agile, creative mind and a passion for reaching underserved audiences with informative content. On an average day, the Jr. Writer might research current financial trends, help to create and kick off an editorial plan, revise content based on copy edits and/or evolving business concerns, work with designers and writers to brainstorm a new content experience, and deliver publication-ready, lasting work related to all aspects of personal finance (savings, getting a job, investing for the first time). The Jr. Writer will also dive into our customer personas to understand the needs of our audience, unearthing pain points and further developing our communication strategy.

Things you're good at

+ Voice. You thrive on the fine boundary between writing in a professional style and maintaining a “real,” engaging voice. You have a sense of humor and love to play with words, but do not sacrifice technique.

+ Research. You’re naturally curious, unafraid of asking “why?” You have the mindset of a detective and can dive deeply into all aspects of personal finance to get a feel for what’s happening in the space: the latest from financial “gurus,” the newest budgeting method, and exciting trends within popular financial publications.

+ Flexibility. You are as comfortable writing a 500-word essay as you are composing short, shareable content (think: tweets, push notifications and modular how-tos).

+ Ownership. Own and execute financial content that creates value for Albert's customers.

+ Organization. Work across multiple layers of our organization, including

design, writing, engineering, financial services and senior management.

+ Communication. Keep lines of communication open and seek out

feedback on a regular basis.

+ Teamwork. At Albert, the underpinning of our culture is to care. We care about our customers’ financial wellness, we care about the health of our business, and we treat each other with kindness and respect.

  • A natural collaborator and solid communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, who can work alongside fellow writers, product managers, designers, engineers, marketers and Genius teams
  • Adapts easily to a fluid work process, with an ability to pivot based on evolving business strategies
  • Passion for serving an underserved financial customer
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: always envisioning the next engaging content strategy or writing project, keeping our business strategy in mind
