We are looking for someone to join our award-winning team as a Content Producer, responsible for the discovery, assigning and posting of news stories.  This requires the ability to respond quickly to breaking news, emails, phone calls and beat calls. 

Applicants must be innovative, viewer/reader-focused and full of creativity. This position requires exceptional writing skills, proofreading/copy editing skills and stellar news judgment, with the ability to react quickly to breaking news. The ideal candidate will also be able to multi-task and work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment. This is a great job for a go-getter.

We are seeking someone with strong social media skills who will be responsible for monitoring and posting relevant content utilizing a variety of social media networks and tools.

Requirements:

  • Degree in journalism; daily newspaper or news site experience required; live, working web samples and/or print pages preferred
  • Proficiency in Associated Press style
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of design for content management systems, usability and accessibility practice and customer focus are essential.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Post stories to fox40.com, FOX40 social media sites and FOX40 CTV Apps
  • Monitor police and emergency scanners and electronic/printed sources for news and disseminate the information to appropriate newsroom personnel
  • Coordinate and dispatch reporters and photographers to execute news coverage
  • Conduct beat calls and contact public information officers to gather information
  • Must be willing and able to work all shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Answer calls from viewers and develop possible story ideas
  • The candidate must be willing and able to work all shifts, including nights and weekends, and holidays.

Compensation - $21.00+/hr commensurate with experience and skill level
