Gunderson Dettmer is seeking a Manager, Community Engagement to support and grow our community platform, including the firm’s newly launched Catalyze initiative which is designed to connect and support our clients at every stage of their journey.  If you’re passionate about the venture capital ecosystem, developing engaging content and experience, and building community, we want to meet you. 

Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement, the Manager will help design and execute programs that enhance and differentiate the client experience. This role will play a key part in building vibrant communities for founders, investors and in-house lawyers through thoughtful engagement experiences, strategic relationship management, and client outreach.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development and execution of additional client communities modeled after our Catalyze founder community

  • Developing and deploying client programs aimed at addressing client needs and facilitating engagement

  • Managing and leveraging CRM tools to strengthen relationships and track client interactions

  • Gathering and applying business, relationship, and market intelligence to inform engagement strategies

  • Partnering with internal teams to support branding and firmwide visibility efforts

  • Collaborating with firm partners and engaging with leading investors and entrepreneurs to help advance their growth

In addition to these core responsibilities, the Community Engagement Manager will stay current on all client development processes, tools, and technologies, with a strong understanding of marketing systems that support client engagement and relationship-building.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 7 years+ of program management, business development, or client engagement experience within the professional services, legal, startup, or venture capital environment

  • Proven track record of developing and executing client-facing programs that drive business growth

  • Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to effectively engage with internal peers, stakeholders, clients, and external partners

  • Demonstrated project management skills with a strong ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks accurately while maintaining close attention to detail throughout all stages of a project

  • Strong understanding of the startup and venture capital landscape, with a desire and ability to identify and leverage emerging business opportunities

  • Creative thinker who proactively drives innovative marketing strategies and initiatives

  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Experience working across multiple office locations, with willingness to travel as needed

  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and autonomously, applying sound judgment and discretion

  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills; able to maintain regular dialogue and foster collaborative, long-term partnerships

  • Detail oriented with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and client relationship management systems

Status

  • Full-Time, Exempt

  • Hybrid Schedule

The expected starting salary for this position is $160,000 to $200,000 annually, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
